Q: Why won't the sound play in "Normandy"?

A: Turn on system sounds by selecting Start\ Settings\ Control Panel\ Sound. If you can hear the system sounds, but no sounds from the program while running it, you may need to reinstall or update the computer's audio driver. Check your computer's manual on how to do this.

Q: How do I resolve the error message: "No sound device located, continue without audio"?

A: Get the updated sound drivers for your computer's sound card from the manufacturer (Check your computer manufacturer's website as many have updates that can be downloaded). Then reinstall the drivers and Normandy.

Q: How do I resolve the error message: "Not enough memory available to run this application. Close all other applications."?

A: Turn off all ScreenSavers and background programs such as antivirus software, then:

  • double-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop
  •  
  • click on Help in the open My Computer window
  •  
  • scroll down to About Windows 95
  •  
  • a pop-up window will appear with statistics for the amount of free system resources and the amount of RAM (physical memory) your computer has
  •  
  • make sure that your computer has at least 80 percent system resources free

    Q: How do I keep my computer from locking up when I play "Normandy"?

    A: Follow these steps:

  • perform ScanDisk and Disk Defragmenter (In Windows 95: Start\ Programs\ Accessories\ System Tools)

  • delete all Temp files; you might want to get assistance with this from your computer manufacturer

    Q: When the software was installed, it didn't create a shortcut. How do I get "Normandy" to create an icon group or an executable icon?

    A: In Windows 3.x, check to see how many icons there are in the Program Manager. The number should not exceed 40 groups and 40 icons per group.

    In Windows 95:
  •  
  • select Start\ Programs\ Windows Explorer
  •  
  • double-click on Normandy's file
  •  
  • find the Normandy.exe file on the right side of Explorer
  •  
  • click and drag the icon to the Desktop icon at the top of the left side of Explorer (under All Folders)
  •  
  • the Desktop icon should be high-lighted in blue
  •  
  • release the left mouse button
  •  
  • close all windows
  •  
  • there should now be an Normandy icon on your Desktop
  •  
  • double-click on the icon to open Normandy

    Q: How do I get Normandy to diplay full-screen?

    A: Normandy will not use up the entire screen if you have your video display set higher than 640 x 480 x 256 colors. To change the video driver to SVGA 640 x 480 x 256:

    In Win 3.11:
  •  
  • go to Main\ Windows\ Setup
  •  
  • click on Options\ Change System Settings
  •  
  • hit the scroll button on the display box and scroll to SVGA 640 x 480 x 256

    In Win 95:
  •  
  • select Start\ Settings\ Control Panel
  •  
  • select Display\ Settings tab
  •  
  • set the display area to 640 x 480, the color palette to 256, and the video adapter to SVGA

    Q: Why didn't my "Wings" 4-pack come with "Normandy"?

    A: The Macintosh version of Wings does not come with Normandy. If you purchased Wings for Windows, please contact the Point of Purchase or Discovery Customer Service at 1-800-762-2189.
