Q: How do I resolve the error: "Video not available"?

A: Edit the SYSTEM.INI:

  • search for VIDC
  •  
  • go to the line that starts VIDC.IV31=
  •  
  • change it to VIDC.IV31=IR32.DLL from VIDC.IV31=INDEO.DRV.

    NOTE: Since this is related to the video card, it may not solve the problem with all video cards.

    A: To resolve this:

  • This will occur on systems with Windows 3.1 because SHARE.EXE did not come with this version of windows. Call Microsoft and request the file.
  •  
  • This will occur on systems with Windows 3.11 if SHARE.EXE is not loaded.
  •  
  • This will occur on systems with WIN95 that have a dual boot with WIN3.1. Remove Windows 3.1.
  •  
  • To load share temporarily, type SHARE at the dos prompt. To load share permanently, edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add the line "C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:5100".

  • hit the scroll button on the display box and scroll to SVGA 640 x 480 x 256

    A: Using the MCI Microsoft Video for Windows driver with certain video cards is not compatible. The video driver is SuperVGA 640 x 480 x 256 for a Pentium 75Mhz, 8Mb RAM. Change the video driver to GD 5430 v 1.22.
