The system may be low on resources, especially if you
only have 16 megabytes of system RAM. To maximize
system resources, turn off auxiliary features like
ambient sound.
To do this:

move the cursor to the top of the screen and a menu
should appear

PREFS

turn off the different settings: AutoSave, Video
Screen Size, Conversation Logs, Navigational

You must have 2 megs of video RAM for the movies to run
in Byzantine. You might also want to make sure that
you have DirectX 5.0 compatible drivers installed
on your PC.
To do this:

Go to Add/Remove Programs, located in your
Control Panel folder

Double-click on DirectX Drivers. This will
open up the DirectX setup screen

Confirm that all devices for video are
certified
|

Go back to the Control Panel and
double-click on Display

Click the Settings tab

Confirm that the Color Palette shows 16

Check that the CD does not have fingerprints or smudges
on it. Too clean, wipe with a damp, lint-free cloth,
wiping from the hole in the center towards the outer
